I don’t know about you, but fall semester finals are the worst of times for me. It’s so hard to not watch every christmas movie available – must watch list coming soon 😉 – and to be indoors when I know the rest of the world is taking in all of the festive sites around town. And honestly the sheer fact that I have to sit at a desk and work and not bundled up on my coach with hot coco really puts a damper on my day.
However, I have found these tips super helpful for me to combat the fall semester funk- all are christmas related and I love it-so hopefully they will help kickstart your next study sesh/early morning when its pouring rain.
- Turn on Christmas tunes and fireplace image on YouTube: I know this is super cheesy, but trust me, this really helps me get my day going when I don’t want to get out of bed at all let alone head to class.
- Light festive candles: Right now I’m switching between last year’s bath and body vanilla noel candle, a ginger pumpkin candle from that cute front of store section in target and a cinnamon candle.
- Buy and advent calendar! I repeat, buy an advent calendar: Honestly, opening that tiny piece of chocolate every night before studying has really helped get me through these finals study sessions. Its the perfect tiny pick me up to keep me going. Mine is from Trader Joe’s, but you can get them anywhere this time of year. invest.
- Hang your lights/ decorations: I know this seems odd. Why would I want to make my apartment christmassy to remind me of the fact that I have to study? Well, this gives me something to work toward and look forward to after finals! Also, having a festive study environment never hurt anyone.
- Treat yo self: Last but not least, drink that caramel brulee latte, watch that episode of TV, decompress. Today, a caramel brulee was just what I needed to get me to campus. But in reality, we all need study breaks. Last week, I hopped in the bath and watched an episode of Happy Merry Whatever on Netflix. not quite a christmas movie, but it’s still gave me my fix and then back to studying.
Hopefully you can incorporate some of these tiny super easy pick me ups into your day to day be it work or school or both-it helps. Trust me.
Bye for now! Thanks for reading and see you in a few days for more holiday things.
